Daniel Sadie: a pillar of generosity and community service

Daniel is an active member of his local community, who is truly passionate about helping other people and supporting the causes that he believes in.

In memory of his grandad, he become a committed supporter of Prostate Cancer UK, a charity doing life-saving research for men with prostate cancer. He has raised over £1000 for the charity, and for the past two years, has taken part in March for Men, which involves doing 11,000 steps each day.

Beyond this, Daniel is a dedicated supporter of the Liberal Democrats, spending his time canvassing and distributing leaflets for the party. He strongly believes in the party’s policies, and he campaigned tirelessly for the UK to remain in Europe during the Brexit referendum. He explains that the issue “is still important to me to this day”. Daniel is excited as his political campaigning activities are set to ramp up this year due to the General Election.

Before the pandemic, Daniel also used to volunteer at his local care home, making teas and coffees for the residents, as well as for the Salvation Army. If Daniel sees anyone struggling, he is the first to offer help and support. He has a natural affinity with people and is often described as charming, friendly, and generous with his time.

Here are just a few quotes from the various people who have benefitted from Daniel’s generous personality:

“People at our care home love Daniel and he always brightens their day.”

“Daniel is very caring and thoughtful about others.”

“Daniel’s drive and passion for causes that he believes in is quite inspirational. He is respectful of other people’s views but is quite unwavering in his views and beliefs.”

Daniel also regularly attends Music 24 sessions, where people with disabilities play music together to improve wellbeing and confidence. He usually plays the xylophone and believes this is a great opportunity to come together with others, and for self-expression through music. Daniel also enjoys swimming, golf, and is interested in Germany and Bavaria. His other passion is steam railways, and he regularly travels on these when going to Cambridge or Peterborough (along with catching the Eurostar to Paris).

Community is important to me because I feel really good about doing my bit to help - that’s how I’ve always been. I was shocked to find out I won the Leaders’ List. I’m getting a new suit for the Awards!”
